Check your cheese for choking hazard

cheese1Check your cheese. The Kraft Heinz Company is recalling 36,000 cases of individually-wrapped cheese because the wrapper could potentially cause a choking hazard. The company said a thin strip of the individual packaging film may stick to the slice after the wrapper has been removed.cheese2

The recall is for three pound and four pound sizes of Kraft Singles American and White American pasteurized prepared cheese product with a Best When Used By date of December 29, 2015 and January 4, 2016 and the manufacturing code S54 or S55.

cheese3“We deeply regret this situation and apologize to any consumers we have disappointed,” the company said in a statement released by the Food and Drug Administration.

According to the FDA, there have been 10 consumer complaints about the packaging, including three reports of choking.

If you bought this cheese, you should not eat it. You can return the packages of the recalled cheese for an exchange or refund.
