Portland is best city in USA for beer drinkers

1280x960_10823P00-ICWEPLet’s raise a pint to Portland — MAINE!

If you like to drink beer, this is the city for you.

In fact, the financial website SmartAsset put Portland, Maine, at the top of its new list of best cities for beer drinkers. (That other Portland, by the way, is #3).

“Yes. Life’s Good Here,” some might say.

From the established and big brewers like Shipyard and Allagash to newcomers Austin Street and Foundation Brewing, the survey found Portland is home to 17 microbreweries.

If you do the math, that’s about one microbrewery for every 4,000 Portland residents – the highest per capita rate of any U.S. city, according to SmartAsset.

The average price for a pint in Portland is $3.75.

Rounding out the top 5:

  • Asheville, NC
  • Portland, OR
  • Billings, MT
  • Denver, CO

Cheers. And as always, support your local brewpub and drink responsibly.
