Maine’s most (and least) popular counties in 2015

1280x960_51006B12 (1)Cumberland County is the place to be in Maine, at least according to new U.S. Census data. Maine’s most heavily populated counted is also the fastest growing.

Cumberland County added more than 2,000 people from July 1, 2014, to July 1, 2015.

York, Waldo, Sagadahoc, and Knox Counties also saw a small uptick in population.

Overall, however, there are fewer Mainers. The population in Maine is down 928 to 1,329,328.

Penobscot County saw the biggest drop in population with a net loss of 843 people.

The population is also down in Aroostook County; 733 fewer people call “The County” home.
